francine, i have a lot more anxiety about getting older than i thought i would. it surprised me. i never thought that i'd be “one of those women” who worried about her looks or age.

    but i am. i do.

i'm also one of those women who is hesitant to tell her age. not because i'm embarrassed but because society/people have expectations of who and what women should be at any given age. and until i learn to bite my tongue, i refrain from those conversations.

that being said, i'm much more comfortable in my skin than i was just a couple of years ago and i wouldn't trade the feeling for anything in the world.

I love these interviews of @hardaway. Please do more of them! Very well edited, and you elicited great answers from her, so the questions must have been interesting.

What I have come to learn after 36 years of observing her is that she possesses a limitless amount of a little-known-but-largely-useful trait we call “activation energy.” Most people procrastinate, wallow, hesitate or postpone, but not @hardaway. She gets out there and takes the first swing (often before the first pitch is even thrown!). She may keep batting against the same resistance time and again, but she does so optimistically, and refuses to be stopped by it.

What's the secret to activation energy? I don't know. I think part of it is literally having an abundance of physical energy. But it's also in the mind: it's being fearless; having self confidence; and possessing a real desire to make change happen.
